Week 10/14 to 10/21

Before 10/17 meeting:
- I met with my groupmates to discuss motor sizing:
Since one of the requirements for makers faire is to let the chassis coast for 2 miles per hour for around 10 seconds, we tried to calculate the torque needed by our motor to accelerate the chassis. However, after doing some kinematic analysis, we believe that it might not possible for the chassis to coast for 10 seconds, accounting 2 seconds to accelerate to 2mph, and 2 seconds to decelerate to stop.
- We calculate the torque needed to be around 60 ft lb


- We also met up to do the team blog and plan on what to present on upcoming presentation #2

Week 10/07 - 10/14

Following up with the project, there were some topics brought up when my groupmates and I met each other. We mainly discuss our concerns regarding our desired motor from MAC motor. According to our motor sizing, since we would like to have a low RPM high torque motor, the motor provided by MAC will overheat in a few minutes. So, we came up with several lists of possible solutions such as having a planetary gearbox. We planned on decreasing the speed of the bogie, while increasing the speed of the motor to prevent the motor from overheating. With that said, we tried to research more about the planetary gearbox and what gear ratios we might need to slow down bogie while maintaining the ideal RPM for our motor. 

We also discussed of having a controller that can adjust the voltage input of the motor. 

Assignments:

- Follow up with vendor (MAC motor)

- Research more on controller ( example: KBL control)

- Research on the planetary gearbox and how to calculate them

- Sizing of motor

- Look into beadlock rim 

- Research on Tesla pump for air cooling

Week 10/01 - 10/07

- Meet up with group members to discuss the future plans of the project scope

On 10/01,
I met with two of my group members in the library to work on the:

• The team blog
• Discuss future plans of the project
• Work on motor requirements for other groups
• Discussing motor options for bogie

Future plans execution:

• Gather information of desired motor specs from MAC motor
• Finding sponsors to fund the motor
• Place order in for hub motor
• Decide on the motor (6 hub motors) 
• Redesign the housing of the motor to fit better on the bogie
• Finalize on designs.
• Assembly and Manufacture.
• Finalize products on the bogie
• Makers Faire

I met with two other of my team members for a group meeting to discuss future plans and start on presentation slides. The last member of the team stayed in contact through group message. We met in the library on 09/21.

2. Open up the motor
3. Design a single support shaft for the motor
4. Design a housing for the motor
